Martin Luther King Jr. City Celebration - Free Event

The 27th annual Ashland Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration will be held on Monday, January 18th at the Historic Ashland Armory (208 Oak Street) from Noon to 1:30pm. As seating is limited, a simulcast live stream will be available at the Varsity Theatre, 166 East Main Street and through www.Howlround.Tv.

The event will feature our Keynote Speakers – UNIVERSES, a variety of tributes to Dr. King and his enduring legacy through music, spoken word, and dance. The Armory event will be followed by a march to the Ashland Plaza. Once there, a traditional re-broadcast of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech will be played and as well as a performance by the Rogue Valley Peace Choir.

The event is free, open to the public, and sign interpreted. Donations are welcome. Please bring non-perishable items for ACCESS as this event is a food drive.

This annual celebration is produced by a group of community volunteers and sponsored by the Ashland Chamber of Commerce with the support of the Ashland School District, City of Ashland Oregon, Jefferson Public Radio, La Clinica, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Racial Equity Coalition and Southern Oregon University.

This daytime event will be followed by a evening/nighttime concert at the Armory. "The Luminaries", a renowned conscious Hip Hop group that spreads a good message and plays great dance music.
